Emotional Photo Shows Local School Resource Officer on Floor With Child

(Lafayette, Louisiana) - A viral photo posted by the Lafayette City Marshal's Office shows a School Resource Officer lying on the floor with a young boy who was having a bad day.

According to the police agency's social media post, the SRO is assigned to LCA in Lafayette.

Parents commenting under the photo have identified the officer as Deputy Briscoe, and apparently this isn't out of the norm for Officer Briscoe.

The young boy in the photo was apparently having a bad day, and the officer came down to the student's level and reassured him that things would get better.

Many parents have saluted Deputy Briscoe for his kindness, with many saying he did the same for their kids when they were having a bad day.

In fact, one parent reported seeing Deputy Briscoe with a young girl who was crying, and they overheard him ask the little girl if she'd llike for him to escort her to her older sister so she could be with her.

I told a colleague of mine at the station that this is the best news story and photo I have seen on social media in weeks. This officer gets it, and he seems great with kids.

We often forget how innocent kids are and that, at times, they go through tough times too; for this officer to lie next to his young boy while he was having a bad day is so good. Furthermore, this is a great reminder that when a kid needs us, we may need to stoop to their level so they aren't intimidated by an adult.

I can't tell you how much I love this, and I applaud Deputy Briscoe for what he did here and for what he has done for so many at school. He deserves a trophy for his kindness.
