No Stopping Record-Setting Heat in Louisiana Going into the Weekend
The heat that is being generated in our area just does not seem to want to stop. And, unfortunately, the trend is going to continue into this weekend according to our weather partners over at KATC.
The temperature for Friday is slated to be 103 degrees followed by Saturday and Sunday. Each of those days the high temperature is predicted to be 103.
According to the meteorologists at KATC, the high temperatures could go above 103, maybe we will see 105 degrees.
Why are we having this extreme heat? It's one of those high-pressure systems that is still making its way across the country. Here is a quote from meteorologist Bradley Benoit,
Rain chances will be no better than 5%. Little to no change heading into Friday and the weekend. In fact, the heat may only amplify further into the weekend with isolated highs in the 103-105 degree range. Extreme looks to stick around for much of next week.
We continue to set records for the hottest temperatures on record, and we have now had multiple days with triple digits, and for the weekend that is not going to change.
It seems like the hottest month ever, and we have broken some records. However, as we take a look back we did have some hot days in the summer of 2020:
In addition to the year 2020, we also had several very hot days in 2019:
When we take a look at 2018, there is no surprise here to find that we also have some of those more extreme days. Thankfully during those years, it wasn't for multiple days in a row. I think that has all of us asking, "Is this going to be our new normal?".
