(Natchitoches, Louisiana) - Don't look now, but the holidays are approaching, and soon you'll be planning trips to bring the "Spirit" to your family, and if you plan on attending the Natchitoches Christmas Festival, there's a huge change you need to be aware of.

The festival of lights in central Louisiana has always been a favorite for those looking to get into the Christmas spirit, and this year, all the fun starts on November 22nd with fireworks and more.

Then on Nov 29th, festivities continue with more fireworks and other displays. On December 6th, the Festival of Lights Parade will take place.

Now, to a massive change coming to the Christmas festivities in Natchitoches, like so many other attractions across the country, the folks hosting the festival of lights in the Town of Natchitoches have decided to go cashless this holiday season.

That means you will need a debit or credit card for admission, concessions, and other attractions.. This eliminates the responsibility of workers holding onto cash, and many argue that it alleviates the potential threat of theft when money is freely circulating.

So, if you're bringing the family to see the lights and Santa this year in Natchiotes, make sure you've got the plastic in your wallet before you arrive. You may also want to share this information with friends and family as they make plans to attend this great festival this holiday season.

The lights shine in Natchitoches through January 6, 2026, so make plans now to experience the oldest holiday festival in Louisiana, celebrating its 99th season. If you haven't been, it's worth the drive to experience the magic of the Christmas season.
