(KTDY) - For those who still elect to shop in stores, rather than have everything delivered to their home, it can at times be a hassle to navigate through stores.

Recently, I had to make a quick stop at the Walmart store on Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette, and I stopped on a Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. As I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed that several parking spots were available near the store, which I thought was unusual.

If you shop at Walmart in Acadiana, you know that finding a close parking spot is rare because so many people shop there. However, on this day, I got lucky while in the parking lot and while in the store.

As I entered the store, I immediately noticed how quiet it was. Moving further into the facility, I suddenly realized that there weren't many customers in the store. In fact, from the front of the store to the rear, I may have encountered only four other customers, which is unusual.

After I got what I needed, I walked back through the store in Lafayette, and I saw no one at the checkout registers. I was actually able to walk right up to the register to check out. I am not kidding you; I was in and out of the store in under five minutes.

I went home that day thinking, Is the economy that bad that people aren't shopping for necessities, or was it just the timing of my stop at the store? Having thought about it, I realized it had to be the time I visited this busy store; it was early in the morning and on a weekday.

When my wife got home, I told her about my experience, and she mentioned that she had experienced the same thing several times when she went to Walmart on a weekday, often shopping around 8 a.m.

For the ultimate shopping experience at Walmart, I recommend visiting the store early in the morning or on a mid-week day. My midweek experience in the store was so pleasant that I may never return later in the day or on the weekends.

When is Walmart The Busiest?

Although I may not have factual data to support this, I can speak from experience that Walmart seems to be busiest on weekends, particularly on Sunday afternoons.

Many people shop on Sunday afternoons for what they need for the upcoming week; thus, if you are as impatient as I, consider avoiding weekends and shop early in the mornings by midweek.

I hope this shopping tip eases your anxiety, and this may be something you want to keep in mind as we approach the holidays. We do most of our holiday shopping when the kids are in school, and it is much more pleasant during the week rather than going on weekends.
