Louisiana High School Cancels ‘Dress Up Day’ for Homecoming Week
(Kaplan, Louisiana) - An Acadiana High School has announced that students will not be allowed to dress up for one of the final days of homecoming week at the school.
Kaplan High School posted on Facebook that students would not be allowed to dress up for "Tropical Day" as the homecoming week comes to a close due to disruptions in the classroom and other behavioral issues on campus.
One of the most enjoyable parts of homecoming week on high school campuses is the various themed days when students and faculty dress up. However, some students have allegedly caused issues on campus, and administrators have decided not to allow their students to participate in the dress-up day on Thursday, October 9th.
According to the social media post, the school had this to say as homecoming week comes to a close:
"We truly appreciate those who have demonstrated positive school spirit and responsibility; however, the behavior of some has affected this privilege for everyone. EVERYONE IS TO DRESS IN SCHOOL UNIFORMS TOMORROW!"
The school stated in its post that it hopes to end the week strong, without any future disruptions on campus.
In recent years, schools have had to address off-campus activities during Homecoming Week, but this may be the first time a school has had to put an end to some traditional Homecoming festivities on campus due to the behavior of some students.
We hope all of the students end the week well in Kaplan, and we certainly hope that they enjoy the rest of their 2025 Homecoming week.
