Employee in Lafayette, Louisiana Shot While Closing Business
Lafayette Police are investigating another shooting in the city.
The latest shooting happened on Friday night as an employee was closing a business on Willow Street.
Here's the following press release from LPD:
Last night, on January 26, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., Lafayette police responded to reports of a male being shot in the 1400 block of West Willow Street. When officers arrived on the scene, the victim was located in the parking lot of a business suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers provided life-saving medical aid, and the victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. The victim is currently in critical condition.
Lafayette Police Detectives along with Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was an employee at the business, and upon closing for the night the victim was approached by a suspect in the parking lot. Shots were fired at that time, and the suspect fled the scene.
Investigators are actively working on this case, and an update will be released when more information is available.
