We know black bears are everywhere in south Louisiana, but when you see one still on the loose it can still be starling.

The most recent black bear photo to surface on social media came from Evangeline Parish, and it's a nice-sized bear.

The bear was reportedly spotted just north of Ville Platte and about 1/4 mile from the state park.

That state park would be Bayou Chicot State Park in Evangeline Parish.

Again, while a black bear in the wild may nothing be anything new to those in south Louisiana, this should be a good reminder to all that the bears are out there and you can do a few things to keep them away from your property.

Wildlife and Fisheries suggests that you not keep food or trash out in the open as they could attract bears closer to your home.

In the photo below, you can see that this black bear is near an automatic feeder, thus it was seeking a food source.

So, if you're in the Bayou Chicot area, you should be aware of this bear, and chances are it is not out there alone.

Here's the photo huge bear, which was likely taken by a field trail camera.
