Louisiana Mourns the Passing of A Beloved Physician

(Mamou, Louisiana) - Some sad news out of Mamou, Louisiana, as a beloved physician has died.

Savoy Medical Center announced on social media on Thursday that Dr. Wayne LaHaye passed away at the age of 86 years old.

Dr. LaHaye was not only a staple in Mamou, but he was a well-known and well-respected physician throughout Evangeline Parish and St. Landry Parish.

According to Savoy Medical Center, Dr. Wayne LaHaye started practicing in Mamou in 1965, and speaking from a personal viewpoint here, there was no one better with his patients. Dr. Wayne truly cared for everyone he ever treated.

I'll never forget the day he informed my parents that I suffered from a broken collarbone at the age of 5 years old, and he was as upset as they were. Dr. Wayne LaHaye was one of the kindest people you'll ever meet, and he truly loved his family and his community.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and his staff during this difficult time. Dr. Wayne LaHaye's legacy will forever be engraved in Savoy Medical Center.
