Ozzy Osbourne Had Tumor Removed From His Spine
Ozzy Osbourne had a tumor removed from his spine after going under the knife for a fourth time.
The Black Sabbath star, who turns 75 next month, has undergone a series of procedures over the years to cure his back issues and recently had his fourth surgery which aimed to correct damage from a fall at home in 2019 which dislodged metal rods which had previously been inserted into his spine, and Ozzy has revealed doctors found a tumor.
He told Rolling Stone U.K.: "It’s really knocked me about. The second surgery went drastically wrong and virtually left me crippled. I thought I’d be up and running after the second and third, but with the last one they put a ... rod in my spine. They found a tumor in one of the vertebrae, so they had to dig all that out too. It’s pretty rough, man, and my balance is all [messed] up."
The ongoing issues have affected his performing scheduled with Ozzy being forced to call off a festival gig in the summer and he's now worried he may never get back to touring properly because he would never consider taking to the stage in a wheelchair
He added: "I’m taking it one day at a time, and if I can perform again, I will. But it’s been like saying farewell to the best relationship of my life. At the start of my illness, when I stopped touring, I was really [annoyed] with myself, the doctors, and the world. But as time has gone on, I’ve just gone, ‘Well, maybe I’ve just got to accept that fact.'
"I’m not going to get up there and do a half-hearted Ozzy looking for sympathy. What’s the ... point in that? I’m not going up there in a ... wheelchair. I’ve seen Phil Collins perform recently, and he’s got virtually the same problems as me. He gets up there in a wheelchair! But I couldn’t do that."
