These 6 Popular Food And Drink Items Are Gone Forever In Texas
Everyone has their favorite food item or drink right? Whether it's from a restaurant or off the shelves of the grocery store, we all have those items we turn to. Well, 2023 led to the extinction of some of those items in Texas, and some were downright surprising.
Here's a look at some of the items you won't be consuming in 2024, however, remember how places LOVE to bring back these items "for a limited time", so keep your eyes peeled. I see a couple on here I'd jump on.
DUNKIN' DUNKACCINO
This one blew people away that it was going away. The comments people left ranged from "bad decision" to "sad day". It was one of the more popular drinks at Dunkin', so the decision to jettison it from the menu was mindboggling.
Two things of note here. One was Dunkin' spokesperson stating, “The Dunkaccino is retired for now, but there’s always the chance for its return in the future.” The other? A TikToker throwing out a menu hack to get it. They said order a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. I mean, that seems easy enough, but I'm betting it's not QUITE the same.
DAIRY QUEEN CHERRY DIPPED CONES
This was one of my FAVORITE things to order from DQ when I was a kid. Now, that was quite awhile ago and I'll be honest, I hadn't had one in quite some time. However, not being able to order that red glazed cone is a bummer.
There was just something about the flavor of that cherry shell draped over that chocolate soft serve was magical. I always did chocolate because it resembled a chocolate covered cherry, just in reverse. There was a glimmer of hope though, as a Dairy Queen spokesperson said, “DQ is always rotating our dipped cone flavors and Cherry Dipped Cones may return in the future." Let's hope so, because I won't miss out on ordering it again.
MAPLE CHEERIOS
I didn't even personally know Cheerios made a maple flavor, and I personally wouldn't have indulged in them. There were however a lot of people who were very disappointed they were off the shelves. They did it without any fanfare either. One day they were just...gone.
Someone tweeted at the company asking about them and that's how they found out they were discontinued. In the response confirming they were gone, they mentioned they'd pass it along to the team that people were missing them. Could they come back? No word on that yet.
PEACH COBBLER POP-TARTS
I'm all for different flavors of items being introduced, but peach cobbler for Pop-Tarts? Seemed like a bit of a stretch to me. Some of those flavors are already sweet enough, I can't imagine how sweet this particular one was.
If you were a fan of them, I wouldn't lose hope completely as Pop-Tarts HAVE brought back previously discontinued flavors, most recently Strawberry Milkshake. So I guess if enough people made a stink about it, they could pop back up on shelves.
TACO BELL'S QUESARITO
I tried one of these not long after they introduced them to the menu, and while it wasn't my FAVORITE on the menu (that would be the Mexican Pizza), I have to say it was pretty darn tasty. Rolling up a quesadilla around that famous Taco Bell seasoned beef was a great idea from the jump. Adding in a nacho cheese sauce as well as a chipotle sauce took it over the edge.
Well, either people didn't agree or Taco Bell pulled one of their patented 'pull a popular menu item and bring it back later' moves, much like the Mexican Pizza. My guess is it'll be finding its way back on to the menu before you know it as many have complained about it being gone. Hey, while we're at it, can we bring back the Chili Cheese Burrito? Man I miss that thing.
WENDY'S GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH
This one really surprised me, as it's been on the menu a LONG time, dating back to 1990 when it was introduced. It boggles the mind that a menu item that had the staying power for 33 years can just suddenly disappear.
They apparently did it so they could introduce a new Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap. I guess I don't see why they had to get rid of the sandwich in order to bring this item in. Are they only allowed to have so many chicken items on the menu or what? Very confusing.
