As Winter Storm Leon makes it's way through Acadiana for the next couple of days, it's gonna be dangerous to travel on the icy roadways. There will most likely be a curfew in effect tonight as the temperature will fall 10 degrees below freezing. Certain roads and bridges will be shut down as well to prevent you from going out. So, you will most likely be stuck at home. These things might make it better for you to tolerate boredness at home.

What is usually the first thought that comes to your brain whilst dealing with cold weather in South Louisiana?

GUMBO!

Make a big ole pot of your favorite gumbo, because it is indeed, gumbo weather. If you do not have the ingredients to make gumbo, make a pot of soup (homemade vegetable soup does sound pretty good too). Either one will warm you up real quick!

MAKE A FIRE

This technique has been around and keeping human beings warm since the stone age. Go to the store before it gets to icy and buy some firewood. Utilize your fireplace if you have one.

ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS

This cold weather will make you appreciate the fact that it's not so bad staying in and staying off the dangerous slick roads. Watch a movie, play games, read a book, etc. If you are a musician, sit down and practice your instrument and maybe write something. Appreciate and enjoy the little things to do around the house.
