The 'Pride of Acadiana' will once again be a part of the pride of New York City parades. The marching band from UL will again be featured this year in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and you can help the band get to the Big Apple.

According to KATC TV3, "the marching band is furiously practicing to prepare for their second appearance at the 86th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band's first trip was in 2005.

"To return to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a huge honor for our band. It shows the amount of dedication, and hard work, and exemplary performance that they display at each football game," said Dr. Brian Taylor with the band. "For us to go back this soon after going the first time is just a wonderful testament to their hard work."

The marching band was chosen out of more than 200 applicants nationwide and will be the only one representing Louisiana.

"Right now we're looking for people to adopt some students. There are several students that are having difficulty coming up with the $1,500 dollars it's costing per person to get to New York," said Dr. Taylor.

Senior Brandon Plaisance says he's thrilled to be making this national performance part of his senior year.

"Well first off, just getting the national exposure to be on TV, I've been watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for forever now," said Plaisance. "It's going to be exciting to be on the other side of the camera this time."

The marching band will be one of ten bands performing in the parade on November 22.
