Halestorm Reveal Cover of Joan Jett’s ‘I Hate Myself for Loving You’
From the moment the track listing was revealed for Halestorm's ReAniMate 3.0 covers EP, a lot of fans probably zeroed in on the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts cover of "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Now you can get your first listen to the song in the player above.
It's a pretty faithful version, just a tad slower than the original, but close in the grit, attitude and energy that Jett delivered. And the song should be a good fit for whenever Halestorm feels like including it in their live performances.
The track follows their previous release from the EP, their cover of Whitesnake's "Still of the Night," and both songs are now available as instant grat tracks for those who purchase the disc via iTunes.
Other songs that Halestorm cover on the Nick Raskulinecz-produced covers EP include Sophie B. Hawkins' "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover," Twenty One Pilots' "Heathens," Soundgarden's "Fell On Black Days" and Metallica's "Ride the Lightning." Look for ReAniMate 3.0 to arrive in full on Jan. 6 via Atlantic Records.
Meanwhile, the delivery of the covers EP typically signifies that Halestorm are ready to move on to their next studio album. Having mined the Into the Wild Life disc, the band has been writing on the road and recently revealed that the songwriting is starting to gel. At present, there's a tour down under to start the New Year, but by mid-January their schedule is wide open.
