Great Places for Camping in Louisiana
Summer is here, and if you are looking for some fun outdoor activities, you've come to the right place. Louisiana is the Sportsman's Paradise, and we love fun in the sun, even if it's 5,000 degrees outside! Some of my go to places, Only in Louisiana, and Louisiana Travel have some really great locations to go camping. Some of our favorites are below, but remember, all 22 Louisiana State Parks offer tent camping, cabins, group camps and RV sites, or some combination of those. Get ready to pack the family up and geaux!
- Grand Isle State Park - You can camp right on the beach, and the RV Park site, which is close to the beach, offers BBQ grills at every spot
- North Toledo Bend State Park - fully equipped campsites on 900 beautiful acres. One of the largest man made reservoirs in America
- Lake Claiborne State Park - one of eight stops on the Louisiana Bass Trail, with campsites, cabins, and RV parking available
- Chicot State Park - camping and cabins right on the water. You can also visit the nearby Louisiana State Arboretum
- Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area - 'tent only' camping is permitted, and only in the designated area on Parker Road. Plenty of hiking, bird watching and wildlife viewing in the area, which is over 5,906 acres
- Kisatchie Ranger District Wildlife Area - 8,700 acres perfect for outdoor activities. Dogwood Campground has fire pits and drinking water, and is available for camping, RV's, tents and trailers
- Fairview-Riverside State Park - over 100 RV campsites on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain, with electrical hookups and water
- Lake Bistineau State Park - camping facilities, boat and canoe rentals, and an 18 hole golf course
- Tunica Hills - a privately run campground with tent and RV campsites, and cabins available. Located close to the Clark Creek Nature Area
- Lake Fausse Point State Park - campsites, canoe campsites (that you have to paddle to), RV sites, and cabins that are actually IN the water
