Governor Closes Alabama Beaches
If you were headed to Gulf Shores or Orange Beach for Spring Break or Easter, then here's a heads up. Governor Kay Ivey has issued an order to shut down both public and private beaches in an effort to curb the spread or coronavirus. According to TV station WKRG, 'the order came at the request of the coastal mayors and the Baldwin County Commission'.
The mayors of Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Dauphin Island and the County Commission asked that access to public beaches be shut down, but the governor took that one step further and blocked private access as well. The order is for the beaches to be closed until April 6tth, but WKRG says it could possibly last longer than that.
All beach accesses will be locked and/or barricaded, and anyone caught violating the Governor's order could face a fine of up to $500 and six months in jail.
