GoFundMe Set Up for Lafayette Woman Injured During Plane Crash
By now we all know of the tragedy that struck Lafayette yesterday when an airplane went down shortly after takeoff in the Hub City killing five of the six passengers on board.
The crash also injured three on the ground. One of those happened to be a young lady we've known for a long time here at the radio station, Danielle Truxillo Britt.
Danielle is one of our St. Jude babies, as we call them. A true survivor who kicked cancer's butt at a very young age. We see her at least once a year, usually for the St. Jude Radiothon.
Unfortunately, she's in another battle as she was injured when the plane hit her vehicle, causing it to flip and then catch fire. She was able to escape but according to her husband Robby, she has burns on about 30% of her body.
She is currently at University Medical Center's Burn Unit in New Orleans. Robby has been keeping everyone updated on Facebook and though she had a long first night, he says she is in great spirits.
A friend of the family set up a GoFundMe account with a $2,000 goal. Of course, in true Louisiana fashion, as of this morning over $10,000 has been donated.
Please continue to pray for Danielle and her family as she faces a long recovery. And if you'd like to donate, visit the GoFundMe page here.
