A giant rubber duck has appeared in a pretty busy harbor in Maine and the residents seem to love it.

No one knows exactly where the 25-foot-tall duck with the word "joy" written on it came from. The duck just appeared in the harbor in Belfast, Maine this past Saturday.

According to the Harbor Master Katherine Given, "the duck doesn't pose a navigational hazard, so there is no rush to try and move it."

Given went on to say, "Everybody loves it, I have no idea who owns it, but it kind of fits Belfast. A lot of people want to keep it here."

Despite not knowing much about why the duck showed up in the first place it seems that its presence is welcomed by the people of Maine.

While this story isn't local to Acadiana, I feel like this would be something that the residents here would embrace. The giant duck is a little quirky but overall has a good message and at the end of the day simply makes people smile. In this crazy world we are living in I think we all need to smile a little more and this giant duck is doing that.
