More bad news for the oil and gas industry as four companies in Louisiana have reportedly laid off about 600 workers due to a decrease in demand because of the coronavirus pandemic.

These numbers were reported by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The employees have either already been let go or are expected to be laid off in the coming months.

Turner Industries has said that about 350 workers at three pipe fabrication facilities in Port Allen would be let go unless they get a boost in customer orders.

About 180 employees with ASRC Energy Services Omega will be laid off beginning in June because the company's facility in New Iberia is closing.

Cactus Wellhead, an oilfield services business in Bossier City, has already begun laying off 42 workers earlier this month. Due to multiple large hydraulic fracturing customers deciding to stop drilling, the company will likely release 25 more employees.

And finally, an undisclosed number of workers are expected to be laid off from Valaris (formerly Ensco Offshore). Employees from its Broussard office are being let go starting May 30 due to a drop off in drilling contracts.
