First Death Reported From Hurricane Ida as Tree Falls on Home in Prairieville

Hurricane Ida has claimed the life of one Prairieville resident as a tree fell on a house last night killing one person.

Deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a home off of Highway 621 in Prairieville last night around 8:30 pm.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, a 60-year-old man was the victim.

The name of the man has yet to be released. We will release more information as it becomes available.
