Paul Walker, star of 'The Fast And The Furious' film series, died in a car accident today in Santa Clarita, California at the age of 40.

Earlier today, Walker made an appearance at the toy and car show Autocon, to collect toys for his charity foundation Reach Out Worldwide. Later that afternoon, two men were in a fatal automobile accident, with LAPD confirming that the passenger was Walker. Walker was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a either a post or tree, causing the car to burst into flames.

A official statement was made via Walker's official Facebook page:

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives.

We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.

He was currently at work on the 7th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, to be released next summer. Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
