More and more students are choosing the University of Louisiana Lafayette at their university.

Enfrollment figures for this fall show that 19,291 are seeking higher education from UL. The number is up slightly from last fall when some 19, 188 students registered for classes.

While the numbers are huge, they are reflective of growth in enrollment in the last four years.

Dr. DeWayne Bowie, UL Lafayette's vice president for Enrollment Managemnt says,

"The University continues to attract students from across the country and the world, We have students from every parish in Louisiana, from 48 states and from over 70 countries."

Seven percent more of students are going to graduate school and that's one of the reasons why enrollment numbers are up.

Dr. Mary Farmer-Kaiser, dean of the Graduate School, says,

"The University's commitment to graduate education over the last few years is producing significant results at both the masters and doctoral level."

Of this year's freshman class, there are 114 high school valedictorians.
