UPDATE:  The man who was pictured drinking a beverage in the beer cooler at Nunu's has contacted the store. Management at Nunu's then contacted us, asking us to remove his photo. We hope that it all got worked out!

ORIGINAL STORY:

Management at Nunu's Fresh Market in Youngsville posted a screengrab from a security video that shows a man drinking an adult beverage in the store.

We've seen the people who are shopping who pick up a link of boudin at the deli to eat as they shop, but they keep the packaging to have scanned when they pay for their groceries. You might get some side glances, but no harm, no foul, right?

We've also seen some people who are less honest - those are the ones who pick up a pack of grapes or a banana, which are both usually sold by weight, to eat as they shop. When they get to the register, they allow the clerk to weigh the remaining product, but they got away with eating some of it for free.

Well, this guy is worse than both of the above examples: he thought no one could see him in the beer cooler. So what did he do? He guzzled!

"Come pay for your drinks!!!!" is Nunu's advice to the young man in the photo.

Of course, the internet is always a giver when it comes to comments on posts like these. First, the image has to be explained to a few people:

In not so many words, the guy is shoplifting. It's clearly theft of goods which, by all definitions, is a crime.

Well, LeRoy, I guess the kid likes his beer cold!  It wouldn't at all surprise me, in this day, to see someone walking down the chip aisle tippin' one up!

The image is sparking ideas for some:

And Amanda brings up a great point: in an age where you can't even speak while near your cell phone because you want to avoid getting blasted with ads about whatever you are talking about, people should know how many eyes Big Brother has on us daily:

Every time someone steals from a grocery store, the higher the prices might go to help the merchant recoup some of the losses from theft.

Now we get to the reason I love the internet so much: when the image is shared, the whole internet turns into Sherlock Holmes, hell-bent on identifying whoever is in the image!

Yes, let's share the image so that the man can be identified.

If you are the man pictured in this image, I would recommend you carry yourself down to Nunu's and fess up. I know the management, and they are very good people. If you do the right thing, I am certain that they will take your admission of guilt into consideration.

We can't walk away from this topic without sharing the best comment on the post:

Well, Sherlock, can you help identify this man? Get to work!
