Film director Tony Scott, younger brother of director Ridley Scott, died after jumping off of a bridge in Los Angeles County earlier today. Scott directed such films as 'Top Gun', 'Days of Thunder', 'Beverly Hills Cop II', and recently 'The Taking of Pelham 123' and 'Unstoppable'.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said that the 68-year old director's death is being investigated as a suicide. Simon Halls, Tony Scott's spokesman, had this statement to say earlier:

"I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away. The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time"

Tony Scott partnered with his brother Ridley and created Scott Free Productions. There has been no word from the family or from Ridley Scott as of yet.
