Deftones Singer Chino Moreno And Former Isis Members Form New Band Palms
Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno has joined forces with ex-Isis members Clifford Meyer (guitar/keyboards), Jeff Caxide (bass/keyboards) and Aaron Harris (drums) to form the new band Palms.
“Clifford, Jeff and I started Palms a little over a year ago out of a desire to continue making music together after Isis ended,” explains Harris. “Chino joined shortly after and our sound took shape from there. We’ve worked really hard on this first release and are excited for people to hear it. It’s nice to be back behind the drum kit, and with this lineup.”
Moreno is already in Deftones and ††† (pronounced “Crosses”), but found room in his busy schedule to join Palms. “Being a huge Isis fan I’ve always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound,” says Moreno. “I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs, and to have fun doing so.”
Deftones are currently working on a new album and prepping for a summer tour with System of a Down. Isis broke up in June of 2010, and last year a series of live albums from the band were reissued.
Palms’ debut album was produced by the band and mixed by Harris. It will be released later in 2012 on Ipecac Records, with an exact date to be announced soon.
