Deftones Announce New Album ‘Koi No Yokan’ + Fall 2012 Tour With Scars On Broadway
Deftones have confirmed that their seventh studio album is titled ‘Koi No Yokan,’ and it will be released on Nov. 13. The ‘Tones, who spent a chunk of their summer on the road with System of a Down, will support ‘Koi No Yokan’ with a headline tour. They will be joined by special guests Scars on Broadway, featuring SOAD guitarist Daron Malakian.
‘Koi No Yokan’ was recorded in Los Angeles. Nick Raskulinecz returned to twiddle the knobs for the album. He also produced 2010′s ‘Diamond Eyes.’
Scratching your head about what ‘Koi No Yokan’ means? Well, a quick Google search yielded some information. It’s Japanese for a feeling that is similar to (but not exactly the same as) love at first sight. It’s the sense a person gets upon meeting someone, where they just “know” they are going to fall in love. It implies that future love is inevitable. That’s quite a beautiful sentiment, don’t you think?
“Obviously we’re an aggressive band – not the heaviest, but there’s a lot of attack,” Moreno told Entertainment Weekly recently about the band’s output. “But there’s also this lush beauty that flows within everything that we do, and that’s my favorite part of the band. To me, it’s the epitome of what the Deftones do.”
Indeed, those quiet-loud dynamics have long defined the band’s sound. We can’t wait to hear what they do on ‘Koi No Yokan.’
