DEA Shuts Down Louisiana-Based Drug Wholesaler
The Drug Enforcement Administration suspended a Louisiana wholesaler's licenses to sell controlled drugs. Morris and Dickson Company of Shreveport is accused of failing to report excessive opioid orders from independent pharmacies. In a statement, the company says the DEA has “gotten it wrong”.
Top company officials asked a federal judge to overturn the suspension, saying it will halt the shipment of much-needed drugs to customers in 17 states including Louisiana. This is the first suspension handed down for a wholesaler accused of bad practices since 2012.
