Motley Crue singer Vince Neil has revealed how the spirit of his dead daughter appeared to him two years after her death – and pulled him back from the verge of suicide.

Skylar Neil died at the age of four after a long and painful fight against cancer in 1995. The experience sent the frontman into a spiral of intoxicated numbness, until Skylar’s ghost woke him out of a stupor one night.

Speaking on TV show Celebrity Ghost Stories, Neil explains: “After we buried her I sedated myself on pills and alcohol. I couldn’t take it.

“For months I really tried to kill myself. I wanted to die. It went on for two years after she passed away – I was in eight our nine rehabs. I felt she was waiting for me, and the only place I wanted to go was to her.

“One night I was lying in bed with her blanket, still wanting to die. I was sound asleep – and there was a little tug on the blanket. I woke up, opened my eyes and the door was open.

“I was scared. I didn’t know what was going on – but it was her.”

Neil says Skylar came back to spend time with him every day for about two weeks, and the experience turned his life around. He’s since gone on to create the Skylar Neil Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for research into cancer, AIDS and other diseases.

It’s Neil’s second appearance on the Biography Channel’s TV show – he previously discussed another ghostly experience from when he was young. Other guests have included Sammy Hagar, who says he was visited by the spirit of Van Halen manager Ed Leffler; Twister Sister’s Dee Snider, who’s told of a message from his murdered brother; Alice Cooper, who was the victim of a vindictive visitation; and Marilyn Manson, who discusses a terrifying experience after having read an ancient book.
