Wanna buy a cool building?

Got $2 million just hanging around? If those two things sound like your jam then I've got some downtown property that you may be interested in. The building that houses Dat Dog at 201 Jefferson Street is officially on the market according to this listing from Latter & Blum.

A few of our sources say that Dat Dog isn't planning to close (even though they have scaled back their operating hours over the last year) but I would imagine that could change if someone purchased the building with the intention of using the space that houses the restaurant.

UPDATE: According to a story from The Advocate, Dat Dog "is evaluating its options and will close the restaurant if the building is sold," this according to CEO Paul Tuennerman.

In addition to the restaurant, the 12,000 sq ft. building also houses The Platform—a turnkey two-level event space equipped with a stage, independent entrance, a bar, bathrooms and an all-around set up similar to a mini House of Blues.

The Rosa Parks parking lot is also right across the street, making parking a breeze for patrons. According to the listing, there is also living space available in the two-story building.

Located at the entrance of downtown, this building is the cornerstone of what is quickly developing into one of the cooler blocks in Downtown Lafayette. Reve Coffee Roasters is located on the adjacent corner and has recently remodeled much to the delight of their regular guests.

At the opposite end of the Jefferson St. block The Office and Dwyer's Cafe serve as bookends near other downtown destinations like Parish Ink, Lagniappe Records, Rukus Board Sports, Salon NV, The Greenroom, Frederick Hair Studio, C. Wolf Barber & Shop and more.

Over the last few years, names like Waitr, The Pearl, Social Entertainment, MANE Salon, Clandestine Collective and The Omni Center are among the other businesses that have decided to house their operations on this developing Jefferson St. block.

By this time next year, we will see Opportunity Machine take over old Lee Furniture building and there is also a rumor of potential housing in the immediate area.
