If you are interested in being tested for Covid-19 infection and have symptoms, a mobile testing site will start up Friday, July 9, 2020.

The testing will be set up as a drive-thru test, and it is a free test.

If you want to get tested you'll need to register in advance. If you don't, you'll have a longer wait. To get signed up, go to www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com. You will then need to click on the "Louisiana" button, and then choose "Cajun Field" which is Mobile#3.

Here are some of the things to know if you do plan to get tested at the Cajun Field site:

  • You do not need to have any ID, but you are asked to register for testing.
  • The testing is open to anyone in Louisiana who is at least 5-years-old.
  • If you are under the age of sixteen, then you will need to have a parent or a guardian with you.
  • You will need to provide an email address along with your telephone number.

Officials at the Cajun Field testing site will be in operation from Friday, July 10 through Wednesday, July 15, from 8am until 4pm.

Test results usually take about three to five days to come in, and you'll be contacted via email with your results. You'll also be able to access your test results by going to the following address: www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com. If you test positive for Covid-19, someone will call you, but you must also know that there is no telephone number that you can call for test results. The results are available by accessing the website listed above.

Details about what you will be doing when you get to the site were provided, via press release, and is as follows:

"People who visit the site are encouraged to wear masks. Those being tested will perform nasal swabs on themselves as they wait in their vehicles. The process will be observed by a health care professional to ensure it is done correctly. Sealed samples will be dropped in a container."

People coming to get a test, are asked to enter Cajun Field using Gate 3 which is on the West Congress Street side of the field. When you are finished with your test, you will be asked to leave Cajun Field using Reinhardt Drive to get to Bertrand Drive which is at Gate 1.

UL Lafayette and the Louisiana Department of Health teamed up to put on this testing site.
