Lafayette Police say a man wanted for a carjacking and bank robbery in Lafayette was captured this morning by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force at a motel in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Lafayette Police say 31-year-old Justin Reed Seawright is the person they believe is responsible for a carjacking in a business parking lot Tuesday at the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Congress Street.

They also believe he is the man who went into the Whitney Bank at the corner of Johnston Street and Arnould armed with a handgun, demanding money.

Detectives say that they believe Seawright used the white Mazda Tribute he stole from the grocery store parking lot to make his getaway after robbing the bank.

Officers say they are in the process of obtaining a warrant for carjacking.

The investigation continues.
