Cardell Hayes Sentenced To 25 Years In Shooting Death Of Former Saints Player Will Smith
Back in December, Cardell Hayes was found guilty of manslaughter, and attempted manslaughter in the death of Will Smith, and the shooting of his wife, Racquel.
The Advocate reports that Hayes was sentenced to 25 years for the death of Will Smith. That will be served simultaneously with the 15 years he received for the attempted manslaughter of Racquel Smith. Credit will be given for time served, but the sentence does not offer a chance for early parole.
Hayes faced a total of 60 years in prison, as manslaughter carries a 40 year maximum, while attempted manslaughter carries a maximum 20 years.
