Cankton Native And Touring Drummer Tracy Broussard Will Host Drum Clinic To Benefit Toys For Tots
The name Tracy Broussard may not ring a bell with you, but I'm pretty sure you've heard of Blake Shelton. Broussard, a native of Cankton, LA, has been playing with Shelton for the past ten years, as well as participating in various side projects; and tonight will bring his drumming expertise to Lafayette Music for a very special drum clinic.
According to KATC TV3, "sixteen years ago, Tracy Broussard packed up his truck and a U-Haul trailer with drums and dreams of becoming a successful touring musician. He returns to Acadiana to tell his inspirational story in a drum clinic/motivational event on November 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at Lafayette Music Company, benefitting Toys for Tots.
Broussard is entering his tenth year playing drums for CMA Entertainer of the Year and reigning CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year, Blake Shelton. In his "Gotta Go Get It" druminar, Broussard will talk about his journey from teaching himself to play drums at the age of ten and playing with bands in the area, to taking the stage with a Country superstar.
He will emphasize how faith, relationships and balancing family and a career are important; not only to achieve success in the music business, but also in life.
A recent career highlight for Broussard was performing in an all-star tribute to Willie Nelson at the CMA Awards with Shelton, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum and Willie Nelson himself. Broussard is also a member of the Funk/Fusion instrumental group, Trypta-Phunk, whose album is currently available on iTunes.
At the druminar, Broussard will perform musical selections from Shelton's live show and Trypta-Phunk's album. By integrating life lessons, stories from the road and playing examples, this event will have something for the musician and non-musician alike. "I am thrilled to be putting on this event with Lafayette Music, my endorsers and Toys for Tots," states Broussard. "It's a great way to kick off the holiday season, see some old friends, make some new ones and do something great for the community that has done so much for me," he adds.
There will be plenty of giveaways and prizes, from Pearl drums, Zildjian cymbals, Aquarian drumheads to ProMark drumsticks, Sennheiser electronics, Woodshed percussion and more. Admission is an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Lafayette Music Company, 3700 Johnston Street, Lafayette. For questions regarding the druminar, call (337) 984-3700."
