Cam Newton Knocked Out Of Game By Falcons LB He Taunted Earlier In The Game [VIDEO]
In a dose of instant karma, Panthers QB Cam Newton was knocked out of the game by the same Falcons linebacker he taunted earlier in the game.
Newton was attempting to score on a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter when he was denied at the goal line by Falcons linebacker Deion Jones. This is the second big play in as many weeks from the linebacker, who Saints fans may remember as the player who took a Drew Brees pass to the house for a pick six that helped Atlanta beat New Orleans last week.
Jones dropped the boom on Newton, who taunted him earlier in the first quarter of the game.
Newton received a taunting penalty after he picked up a first down, then pushed Jones, threw the ball at him and signaled for a first down in his face – maybe not the best idea given that Jones would be chasing him around for the rest of the day.
The bigger issue here for the Panthers is that they are 1-3 and their quarterback could have a head injury for the second time in a season that's barely four weeks in. What's even worse, is that it's clear that Newton could have easily avoided the impact.
Cam could be out for Week 5, but should definitely be good to go when the Panthers travel to New Orleans in two weeks to face the Saints.
