The body of a man who had been reported as missing was found yesterday, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office.

Family members told KATC-TV 3 earlier on Monday (3/8/21) that the man's body had been found under the Basin Bridge near Whiskey Bay close to where his car was found abandoned yesterday.

72-year-old Thomas Porter had been reported missing, and the family said in a social media post that he had diabetes and might have been disoriented.

Porter was last seen on Thursday, March 4th in the area where he was eventually found.

In the social media post, the family described him as a Vietnam veteran and volunteer first responder.

Family members also told KATC that they were informed by St. Martin Parish officials that foul play has not been ruled out yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
