Louisiana Athletics has announced head football coach Billy Napier has received a contract extension through the 2025 season.

The announcement was made today by the University.

Napier is wrapping up his second season as head coach of the Cajuns.  This season, Louisiana has enjoyed its best season in school history, going 10-2 in the regular season before falling to Appalachian State in the Sun Belt championship game.  Napier was voted the Sun Belt Coach of the Year, the first Cajuns' coach to receive that honor.

The vision and support from our University leadership has been tremendous. We are very thankful for the belief Dr. Savoie and Dr. Maggard have in what our staff is working hard to build. Our entire organization is very appreciative of the quality of life in Lafayette and Acadiana. This extension will help us continue working daily on our process and improving our team. The #cULture is real and grows stronger by the day. We look forward to the challenges ahead.

Louisiana faces Miami (Ohio) Monday night in the Lending Tree Bowl in Mobile, AL.

Terms of the extension were not released as of Thursday morning.
