Watch Billy Corgan Debut New Smashing Pumpkins Song During Intimate, Acoustic Set

Billy Corgan has been revisiting the Smashing Pumpkins’ past during their ongoing In Plainsong tour, notably bringing along original guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin for the ride and dedicating a portion of their set lists to the band’s 1993 album Siamese Dream. However, during a recent exclusive event, Corgan shifted gears to focus on the band's future when he debuted a brand-new song.

As Consequence of Sound points out, Corgan played an intimate, acoustic set at a recent VIP event and Q&A with fans in San Francisco. He took the opportunity to debut a new, so far untitled song. It’s a winsome albeit forlorn number that finds the Pumpkins leader repeating, “Bless me.” Check it out at the top of the page. This marks the band’s first new music since releasing Monuments to an Elegy in 2014. Corgan previously revealed he planned to write new material while filming a cross-country road trip for a forthcoming documentary.

The Pumpkins' tour continues tonight (March 29) in Salt Lake City with more dates planned through the beginning of May. Chamberlin is on board for the entire jaunt, and Iha joined the band onstage for the first time in 16 years during the band's concert in L.A. over the weekend. Iha called the reunion an "incredible" moment.
