An armed robbery at a Dollar General store in St. Martin Parish Thursday was thwarted when the suspect was spooked and fled.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's spokesperson Maj. Ginny Higgins said 35-year-old Nathan Sibille, of Arnaudville, brandished a handgun and demanded cigarettes from a store clerk.

But, when another customer entered the store, Sibille fled.

A short time later, he was arrested in Breaux Bridge.

He was booked into the St. Martin Parish jail, charged with attempted armed robbery with the use of a firearm.

His bond was set at $10,000.
