April 23 Louisiana COVID-19 Update
The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Thursday, April 23.
There are now 25,739 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. 6,779 tests have been completed by state labs and 135,079 tests have been reported by commercial labs. Numbers show that there are 1,727 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized with 274 of them on ventilators.
The total amount of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 1,393 with 99 deaths reported.
Lafayette Parish: 439 cases, 17 deaths
Iberia Parish: 228 cases, 12 deaths
St. Martin Parish: 210 cases, 13 deaths
St. Mary Parish: 168 cases, 18 deaths
St. Landry Parish: 154 cases, 31 deaths
Acadia Parish: 117 cases, 7 deaths
Evangeline Parish: 44 cases
Vermilion Parish: 33 cases, 1 death
There is more widespread representation throughout the state as all 64 parishes now have at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 1,540. New Orleans continues to be the hardest-hit area of the state. The next update is due out tomorrow at noon.
