Want to know where all the good stuff is while navigating the Vermilion River? There's an app for that!

If you're looking to canoe or kayak down the Vermilion River, navigating it just became even more awesome with a great new app that points out rest stops, bars, bridges, camping areas and landmarks!

The new app covers the Vermilion from the North Landing underneath I-10 to where the river empties into the Gulf of Mexico. There’s a total of 73 points of interest showcased in the app.

With new technologies, we felt that the best thing to do was to offer people information about canoeing, kayaking and boating on the bayou,” said Bayou Vermilion District Recreation and Education Coordinator Greg Guidroz, who collected the information for the paddle trail map and helped determine the coordinates for the app.

The app was developed by the Bayou Vermilion District, Lafayette Consolidated Government and technology firm CGI Federal.
