‘America’s Got Talent’ Star John Hetlinger to Join Drowning Pool at Chicago Open Air
Well, let the bodies hit the floor ... it's happening! 82-year-old John Hetlinger became an overnight sensation earlier this year when he walked out onto the America's Got Talent stage and shocked everyone with his performance of Drowning Pool's biggest hit, "Bodies." Afterward, the band spread the word that they would love to have Hetlinger join them at the Chicago Open Air festival and he's accepted.
In the TMZ video posted above, Hetlinger confirms his appearance, adding, "We'll see the bodies hit the floor in the pit when I join you on Friday afternoon. See you there." According to TMZ, Hetlinger is expected to join Drowning Pool at the autograph booth after their set as well.
If you somehow missed Hetlinger's performance, you can watch it below. During his appearance on the show, the retiree reveals he was a former aerospace engineer who was a program manager that worked on the repair of the Hubble space telescope.
Shortly after the episode aired, we spoke with Drowning Pool's CJ Pierce, who told us, "I am so entertained by it. It's awesome to just see an 82-year-old man get out there and belt some metal -- whether it was our song or any song." He later added, "We’d love to get in touch with him or hope he gets in touch with us and I’m looking forward to meeting him anyway. He just seems like a great guy anyway, working on the Hubble telescope and everything, that’s freaking cool. And he was a Navy pilot. Good for him."
