‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Spoilers: Season 3 Plot Revealed! [Video]
Our last look into the witchy goings-on of 'American Horror Story: Coven' didn't reveal much beyond an expected premiere date of October 9, but the black cat's out of the bag now! FX has released the full plot synopsis for the coming third season of Ryan Murphy's horror thriller, including a number of character descriptions, so check out the "Supreme" secrets of 'American Horror Story: Coven' right here!
While we knew witches and voodoo would provide the obvious supernatural backdrop, FX's full description for 'American Horror Story: Coven' offers up a tantalizing framework for the wicked wars to come, and returning guest star Taissa Farmiga's central role. Think Salem Witch Trials crossed with 'X-Men.' Seriously.
Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
Elsewhere, we know that the third season will divide between both present and 1830s New Orleans to tell its terrifying tale. ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ will also welcome newcomers Christine Ebersole, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe, along with returning franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Denis O’Hare, Alexandra Breckinridge, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
