It's been a few years since we've heard from AFI, but the band is back with a brand-new single, 'I Hope You Suffer,' off their upcoming ninth studio album. The powerful track is sure to get the band's devoted fans excited for the new disc.

The song, which can be heard in the player below, features singer Davey Havok delivering soft vocals over the initial verses before reaching back for a full-on vocal assault in the chorus. Musically, the song combines big guitar riffs with some intriguing atmospheric effects.

AFI, who have scored such hits as 'Girl's Not Grey,' 'Miss Murder' and 'Medicate,' will release their as-yet-untitled ninth studio album in the fall via a new deal with Republic Records. “We are thrilled to be joining the Republic family for the release of our ninth record,” said Havok in a recent press release. “We've spent over two years realizing this album and could not be more excited to share it with all.”

You can catch AFI at this year's Riot Fest & Carnival in Chicago in September. In the meantime, check out the new song 'I Hope You Suffer' below. The song will officially be released on July 23.
