AFI Announce New Album ‘Burials’ + Unveil Dates for 2013 North American Tour
After giving fans a sneak preview with the first single ‘I Hope You Suffer’ from their ninth studio album, AFI have revealed the title -- ‘Burials’ -- and a release date of Oct. 22 for their upcoming disc.
Frontman Davey Havok speaks about AFI's new music and the inspiration behind it, explaining, “This record is of silence, of burials, and the burials that result from that silence. It’s of betrayal, cruelty, weakness, anxiety, panic -- deep and slow -- despair, injury and loss. And in this it is shamefully honest and resolutely unforgiving.”
‘Burials’ will mark AFI’s first album on new label Republic Records. It was produced by Gil Norton and mixed by Andrew Scheps, whose resume includes work with Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
AFI will be showcasing the new disc out on the road in advance of the official release of ‘Burials’ with a tour that kicks off on Sept. 12 in Minneapolis and wraps up on Nov. 2 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Check out all of the tour dates and locations below.
