Meet Trevor Rickerson. He is a 9-year-old boy from Lafayette and he has been diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).

At 10 months old Trevor was diagnosed with this crippling condition and it has prevented him from walking. In fact, he never even crawled as a baby, but now Trevor needs our help.

Trevor has outgrown his current wheelchair and is in need of a new one. His parents are hoping to get a wheelchair for their son that will allow him to stand up on his own.

The only problem is that specific type of wheelchair will cost $65,000. After going back and forth with their insurance provider, Trevor was finally approved for $45,000 in assistance for the chair. So yes, we need to come up with an additional $20,000 for Trevor.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the young Lafayette boy and we hope that you would consider helping out this family. In addition to that, friends are hosting a crawfish boil to benefit Trevor on Sunday, June 7th at Route 92 in Youngsville.

Tickets for the event can be purchased via Eventbrite or by clicking HERE.

We here in Acadiana are known for helping others that are in need and Trevor needs a new wheelchair. I hope together we can make one of his dreams come true, to just stand up one day.

Please consider helping Trevor and his family out in any way you can. And may I ask here, would you consider sharing Trevor's story on social media so that we can get all of South Louisiana behind this important cause?
