8 Towns in Louisiana to See Amazing Christmas Lights
Who's ready to take a road trip across our great state to check out Christmas lights?
The folks at OnlyInYourState.com did a little digging and came up with eight great towns across Louisiana that are a must-see this Christmas season.
Gas up the SUV, pile in the kids and let's go!
Starting from north to south, here is the list.
- 1
Old Christmas Lights Spectacular
520 Broadway St. - MindenWay up in northwest Louisiana sits quaint Minden, with their Old Christmas Lights Spectacular. It illuminates downtown throughout the season and features more than 100 life-size nutcrackers.
- 2
Festival of Lights
Front Street and Rue Beauport - NatchitochesThe Natchitoches Christmas Festival is probably the most known light display in all of Louisiana. There are more than 300,000 lights illuminating downtown right on the river.
- 3
Holiday Lights Safari at the Alexandria Zoo
3016 Masonic Drive - AlexandriaAlexandria has added a pretty good celebration downtown but the holiday light safari at the zoo is still a favorite, complete with train rides and wild animal themed light displays.
- 4
Noel Acadien au Village
Acadian Village, 200 Greenleaf Drive - LafayetteOf course, here in Lafayette we are all familiar with the lights at Acadian Village. For over 30 years the historic village has lighting the holiday season with over half a million lights.
- 5
Zachary's Christmas in the Village
Downtown ZacharyThis unique event gives visitors a chance to enjoy the light displays, take photos with Santa and enjoy gourmet food trucks.
- 6
Hohensee Family Christmas Lights
12625 Sullivan Rd - CentralPersonally, I love it when families have traditions of decorating their homes for the public to enjoy. This family goes all out every year with a dynamic soundtrack and an amazing light display.
- 7
Lutcher Festival of the Bonfires
La Hwy 3193 - LutcherThis upcoming weekend, December 9-11, it's the annual Festival of the Bonfires on the levee of the Mississippi River, lighting up pyres to light the way for Papa Noel.
- 8
Celebration in the Oaks
1 Palm Drive - New OrleansThis is one on my holiday bucket list. It has slowly become one of the largest in the country, featuring huge displays of decorated historic oak trees as well as a collection of community created Christmas trees.
