64 Year Old Swimmer Diana Nyad Completes 102 Mile Cuba-Florida Swim
5th time proved to be a charm as 64 year old Diana Nyad completed her 102 mile swim from Cuba to Florida in shark infested waters, with NO shark cage. It took Nyad around 53 hours after she began her swim in Havana early Saturday. She had unsuccessfully tried to swim the Florida Strait four times, mostly recently in 2012.
Nyad is also an author of three books, a motivational speaker and has been a reporter and commentator for NPR.
