The second ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns pounded out 22 hits and scored in every inning except the seventh en route to a 16-0 thrashing of the Tulane Green Wave Tuesday night before 3,961 at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Six Louisiana pitchers combined on a three hit shutout and the staff faced just three batters over the minimum in the dominating performance.

Matt Hicks (4-0) started and allowed two hits during his three innings of work to get credit for the victory.  Ryan Wilson, Ben Carter, Matt Plitt, Riley Cooper and Reagan Bazar pitched the final six innings, allowing just one hit with two walks.  Tulane got a runner to second base just once and that was in the first inning.

The Cajuns' 22-hit attack equaled their season high set in Louisiana's 21-2 win over UL Monroe on March 16th.

Twelve different Cajuns collected hits in the game and eleven different players scored in the total team effort.

Jace Conrad extended his hitting streak to 14 games with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI.  Caleb Adams had three hits, extending his consecutive games reaching base to 24.  Dylan Butler also had three hits and drove in three runs.

Chase Compton and Evan Powell joined Butler with three RBI each, with Powell hitting a pinch three run homer during the Cajuns' six run sixth inning.

The Cajuns played flawless defense, turning two double plays.

Louisiana (27-3) got on the board in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Tyler Girouard and a single by Adams.  A Butler leadoff triple in the second produced another run on a single by Blake Trahan.  Ryan Leonards had a leadoff triple and later scored in the third as the Cajuns raced to a 4-0 lead after three innings.  A Compton single scored Conrad in the fourth and the Cajuns got two more in the fifth on Girouard's second homer of the year and an RBI single by Butler.

The Cajuns exploded for six runs in the sixth inning, with Powell's three run homer the big blow.  Conrad, Butler and Compton also drove in runs during the inning.  And, the Cajuns finished it off in the eighth as both Butler and Compton drove in their third runs of the game, with the 16th run scoring on an error.

Corey Merrill (0-2) gave up six runs and four hits over two innings to take the loss for Tulane (13-14).  The Wave used six pitchers and five of them gave up at least two runs.  Jake Willsey got two of the three Tulane hits.

The Cajuns finished up their nine game homestand with a record of 8-1 and will now hit the road for a three game Sun Belt series with Troy this weekend at Riddle-Pace Field.  Game times are set for 6pm Friday, 3pm Saturday and 1pm Sunday.
