#1 LSU improved to 10-0 with a 58-37 victory at Ole Miss where the Tigers offense looked unstoppable and the Tigers defense looked periodically indefensible.

After the biggest Tiger win in years last Saturday at Alabama, LSU didn't show signs of an emotional letdown early in Oxford, jumping out to a 28-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter.

LSU's offense never slowed down, racking up 714 yards of total offense, while the defense was solid, giving up 1 score.

However, the second half was a different story for the LSU defense, as Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee led a Rebel offense that finished the night with 614 yards.

"I had to remind the guys to enjoy the win...We won by 21 points," noted LSU coach Ed Orgeron. "Obviously, when you don't play well on defense at LSU, nobody is feeling good."

Plumlee rushed for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns.

“He’s pretty fast," said LSU quarterback of Plumlee, who rushed for 212 yards. "I’d like to have that guy’s speed.”

Burrow didn't need to run much, as he carved up the Ole Miss defense with 489 yards passing and 5 touchdowns.

He added several more single-season school records.

17 consecutive pass completions, and the single-season passing yards record.

In the first quarter, he surpassed Rohan Davey's record of passing yards in a season (3,347).

Expect him to create a bit of distance with the yards record, as Burrow now stands at 3,687 passing yards for 2019, with 2 more regular-season games, a likely conference championship game, and potentially 2 College Football Playoff games.

The Heisman favorite will put a ton of distance between him and any future LSU QB eyeing that record.

"We had over 700 yards of offense,” explained Burrow. “So it wasn’t a terrible day.”

LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase led the way, catching 8 passes for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him 13 receiving touchdowns this year, an LSU single-season record.

Justin Jefferson was solid as well, reeling in a team-high 9 receptions for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On the ground, Clyde Edwards-Helaire continued his superb 2019 campaign, rushing for 172 yards and a score.

#1 LSU (10-0, 6-0) now heads home for the final two games of the regular season, beginning next Saturday for a 6 pm contest with Arkansas (2-8, 0-6).

With a win against the Razorbacks, the Tigers will clinch the SEC West.
