The woman who fell overboard the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph has been identified by authorities, and she's from Acadiana.

KATC reports family members have identified the woman as Juwanna Brooks from Acadiana.

The Mexican Navy is still currently performing search and rescue operations in hopes of finding her.

KATC posted this message from the cruise line -

Sunday evening, a 44-year-old female guest was seen going overboard from the Carnival Triumph in the Gulf of Mexico while the ship was on the second day of a five-day cruise from New Orleans. All appropriate authorities were notified and Carnival’s CARE Team is providing support and assistance to the guest’s family.

Carnival Triumph was released from search and rescue operations. The Mexican authorities, in charge of the regional search and rescue efforts in this area,  have assumed responsibility for the search and rescue activities.  

Carnival Triumph arrived in Cozumel last night and will depart later this evening.
