For the second-consecutive week, Louisiana Ragin' Cajun shortstop has been honored by the Sun Belt Conference.

A junior Columbus, Mississippi, Sanders was named the Sun Belt Conference co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, along with South Alabama outfielder MC Nichols.

South Alabama junior right-hander Devin Brown was named Pitcher of the Week.

For Sanders, it's a repeat honor, after being selected as SBC Player of the Week one week ago.

The honor marks the third time in her career that Sanders has won the award, and marks the first time since 2015, when Lexie Elkins accomplished the feat, that a UL player was honored multiple times.

Last weekend, in the Mardi Gras Invitational, Sanders hit a .471, going 8-for-17, including 3 home runs, 5 extra base hits, 11 runs scored, and 8 runs batted in.

A first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection last season, Sanders also walked 7 times, helping her reach base in 15 of 24 plate appearances.

This is already the fourth weekly award from the Sun Belt Conference for Ragin' Cajuns Softball through only three weeks this season, with Sanders joining previous winners Kelli Martinez, who won Player of the Week on February 14, and Alyssa Denham, who won Pitcher of the Week last week.

Louisiana has now claimed 81 player of the week honors since the Sun Belt Conference began bestowing the award in 2000.

The 19th-ranked Cajuns, who are currently 11-4 on the season, return to acton on Friday, taking on Alcorn St. and North Dakota St. in the first day of play in the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park.
